2014 National Championships

Brandon Shreeve represented CAT at the competing at the Phillips 66 National Championships from August 6 through 10 in Irvine, California.  As you read Brandon's meet report, remember that this is the National Championship for USA Swimming, potentially one of the greatest athletic organizations of all time.  There is a short course championship that is nowhere near the meet of the summer championship.

On the first day of competition, Brandon finished 44th in the 1500 free with a best time by 15 seconds and a new National cut.  He followed that with a 200 back time trial which was a best time by a little bit with a very typical great back half swim. On Saturday, Brandon went a best time in the 400 free by 1.5 seconds, taking the event out with a lot of confidence. Sunday, the last day of the meet, he was 3rd in his heat with a 2 second faded swim, finishing with a best time in the 800 free by 4 seconds. That swim gives him 4 out of 4 for best times at his first National Championship.

Sunday night they paraded the 2014 Pan Pac team which is headed for Australia Monday. We wish our Team USA the best of luck at their competition.
