2014 Western Zone Age Group Champs
Noah Vial and Francesca Criscione were selected for the 2014 Oregon Swimming Age Group Zone team. They competed the week of August 6-10 with 37 other Oregon Swimming athletes at the Western Zone Age Group Championships in Federal Way, Washington.
On the first day of competition, Franny finished 8th in the 400 IM with a best time by 14 seconds and an 11-12 girls CAT team record. She was also 15th in the 50 breast with a prelims swim best time by 1.5 seconds. Noah had a great drop in his 200 back with a best time by 8 seconds, and finished 8th in the 800 free. On the second day, Noah and Franny were both a little faster than their best times in the 200 free and 50 fly respectively.
On Friday, both swimmers competed in the 400 free. Noah finished 15th and Franny finished 10th with a huge drop in time from her time at the OSI Championships. She was also 13th in the 100 breast with a best time by 1.5 seconds.
On the last day of Zones, Noah had a fun finish dropping 1 minute and 15 seconds and finishing 12th in the 1500 free. Franny also had a great finish, taking 7 seconds off of her time in the 200 breast. Congratulations to our two Zone swimmers on a well raced 2014 Western Zone Age Group Championship.
