On Thursday, September 18, USA Swimming announced the 2016 trials cuts at the USAS Convention in Florida. Two CAT swimmers have times that will put them in Omaha racing for a spot on the USA Olympic team in June of 2016. Congratulations to Jacob Pebley , who is currently a junior at the University of California - Berkeley, and Brandon Shreeve , who is now swimming for the University of Utah as a freshman. Brandon Shreeve represented CAT at the competing at the Phillips 66 National Championships from August 6 through 10 in Irvine, California. As you read Brandon's meet report, remember that this is the National Championship for USA Swimming, potentially one of the greatest athletic organizations of all time. There is a short course championship that is nowhere near the meet of the summer championship. Noah Vial and Francesca Criscione were selected for the 2014 Oregon Swimming Age Group Zone team. They competed the week of August 6-10 with 37 other Oregon Swimming athletes at the Western Zone Age Group Championships in Federal Way, Washington. On the first day of competition, Franny finished 8th in the 400 IM with a best time by 14 seconds and an 11-12 girls CAT team record. Treasure Valley LC Invite June 12-13, 2014 37 CAT swimmers ages 8-18 traveled to Boise to compete at the Treasure Valley LC Invite hosted by the Boise Y Swim Team. Saturday morning many of the swimmers swam in 1K or 2K Open Water events at a lake near Boise. The regular meet began Saturday afternoon and concluded Sunday, followed by a visit to a water park and the drive home to Corvallis. Congratulations to Alex Craven! Our CAT swimmer participated at the Dwarf Athletic Association of America's national meet in San Diego over Independence Day weekend. She received gold in the 25 fly and back and silver in the 25 free. Way to go Alex!
